How to Build a Website Easy

Are you looking for a “How to Build a Website for Dummies” resource? Well, I am here to help!

It doesn’t matter whether you are an old fart like me at 57 or one of the younger generation, we all will take the same step by step process to build a website from scratch.

It also does not make any difference whether your site is something you just want to give a try and perhaps make your own personal blog or your site is going to be used for a business.

The business could be something as simple as a niche site to be used for affliate marketing Amazon products. Or, the business could be you offering consulting, coaching, or teaching to those who are looking for those services.

Probably the most difficult part about building a website is finding the right website hosting service. All website hosting services are NOT created equal.

What is Important in a Website?

Of course the design and look of your website is important and so is easy navigation; however, there are things that are out of your control once you have chosen a web hosting service. These in no particular order are:

  • How quickly the page loads – users today have little patience when it comes to viewing a page.
  • SEO (Search Engine Optimization) – if someone is searching for what you are offering and you are on the 20th page of a Google search that won’t do you any good.
  • Website Security – Your page will automatically rank higher with SSL or having an https prefix rather than an http prefix.
  • How well you integrate social media.
  • How well your webpages display on mobile devices – most people these days do at least half of their online searches using mobile devices. Some don’t even have computers!
  • Using an easy to use CMS (Content Management System) – if its difficult to work around adding posts and pages to your website you will soon be so frustrated you will want to give up.
  • Quality website content.

If you can find a hosting service that offers all of these things without making each one a separate fee that you pay to improve your website then you will be well on your way to building a website that brings in a lot of traffic. That, in turn, will enable you to have more clients, more sales, more fame, or more of whatever the goal of your website is that makes you happy.

Content Management System (CMS) WordPress

WordPress is easily recognized as one of the most widely used content management systems for websites in the 21st century. You used to have to know how to use HTML (hyper text markup language) in order to build a website. Well, not any more!!! WordPress is the best thing since sliced bread! I guess that shows my age.

I started building a website recently, and of course with the help of Wealthy Affiliate. I am still a complete beginner, but without all the help, information, steps, and knowledge I receive in WA, I would not be here today, or to be honest, I would not even dare to embark on this path. I really warmly recommend anyone considering a website to join this community.
    Greetings,
    Nina

Thanks, Nina, I couldn’t agree more! WA has so much to offer that none of the other webhosting services can even come close. WA has such a great community and everyone is there helping each other, is there anywhere else where we’ve seen that?

      Have a great day!

That’s a great video on step-by-step website creation, and it’s free which is even better.

I’m fascinated with the ability to create a website in just a couple of minutes without having to code anything. I really find the templates with customizable options are very useful as you can drag and drop everything and make it look very professional.

However, is there any difference between a blog and an affiliate marketing website?

Keep up with the great work!

      Thanks and great question!

When I think of a blog I think of someone who loves to help others or share what they are doing and not getting or expecting anything in return. Kind of like a mentor with business knowledge, he will mentor someone and ask for nothing in return, it is his way of paying it forward because someone may have done the same for him.

An affiliate marketing website, if its done well, will provide and share information; however, the main goal of the website is to earn residual income on purchases made through the website. So, that would be like a business consultant who has a lot of business knowledge but he is charging to give advice to the less experienced business professional.

In both cases, a blog and an affiliate marketing website, they are providing value to the visitor. Its just that the affiliate marketer capitalizes on it where the blogger does not.

      Does that answer your question?

    Hey there Mr Waller

Your website’s purpose is admirable. Many people, young or older, are looking for ways to earn a living after losing their sources of income. For older people, depending on physical strength and manual labour is no longer an option. But, we are fortunate to live in a time where your creativity earns a living for you.

Building a website is one such outlet where one’s creativity can afford them to earn a living online. We own a website as well and it’s always good to learn how to improve it. Posts like yours offer valuable information for anyone interested in working for themselves at home.

Thanks! Yes, times sure have changed, haven’t they?

Our father taught the value of a few dollars earned by doing manual labor and after that I decided that even though it is honorable work and there is a lot of pride that goes into it, that is not what I wanted to do for a career.

Little did I know how much manual labor there was in the Marine Corps, lol!

But as you saw I didn’t waste any time in getting educated and certified so I wouldn’t have to do manual labor after that.

It’s the least I can do to help others find a way to work without having to rely on being able to commute to an office or have to do back breaking work until they are unable to do it any longer.
